My experience of nurses undertaking any form of continuing education is that they generally fall into one of three groups: many are single and enjoy a varied and busy social life, others are in long-term relationships with numerous family commitments and the third general group have moved beyond the commitment of having to look after someone else and now have time for themselves.

Not everyone will fit neatly into one of these three groups but my point is that there are different stages in our lives when the demands from others on our time and energy are greater than at other times.
