Conscious sedation training

Dentist Andrew Jones considers the added value and benefits to dental nurses and their patients

When it comes to additional training and extended duties for dental nurses, I feel all dental nurses should consider dental sedation training. I have mentored a number of dental nurses through their dental sedation training in health service, private general practice and specialist practice, and every time I observe the same positive changes in all of them.

For the most part, the detnal nurses I have mentored often felt that something was lacking from their work – that they had lost motivation or even that, after 10 years or so, they were due a change of career path. It is a delight, therefore, once they embark on sedation training to see them re-energised and actively interested in their work again and, dare I say it, excited to see what the next working day will bring!
