Becoming a dental nurse can feel like a daunting choice, especially if you are entirely new to what the whole of the dentistry world consists of, much like me. I fell into my dental nursing career during my gap year before I started university, by first applying for the job of receptionist in a dental practice just to make a little extra income. On my first day, the practice I was working at asked me if I would like to be a dental nurse rather than a receptionist, a somewhat unexpected opportunity for me! And, although I wasn’t initially keen, I accepted that I really did not know what being a dental nurse truly entailed, and decided there was nothing wrong with being a little open-minded.
