Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in dental nursing

My experience

I really enjoy my career as a dental nurse, however carpal tunnel syndrome is affecting my work, my sleep and every aspect of my life.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is where pressure on a nerve in your wrist causes pain and numbness in your hand and fingers. I first began noticing some tingling in my little finger, a similar sensation to pins and needles. The feeling progressed into a nerve burning sensation shooting up my wrists. I dismissed the initial symptoms, until I became extremely concerned when it became hard for me to form a firm grip. I was at home eating a hot bowl of soup; my hands gave up on the weight of the spoon, as if it was made of lead, causing the soup to splatter. From then on, it became a regular occurrence with glasses and mugs.
