Your family is one that could be called a ‘dental dynasty’. Can you tell us about your background and how you became involved in dentistry?
My older sister Lisa initially entered dentistry. I think I saw that it allowed her a great deal of autonomy, creativity and passion in what she did. I went on to do work placement with my family dentist and loved the feeling of being part of a small team and working with people every day. I never felt pressure to pursue dentistry – I think I found myself being attracted to medical professions and dentistry just seemed like the perfect fit.
