What level of dental safeguarding training do I need – and why?

There’s a lot of misinformation about dental safeguarding levels and whether or not they’re still relevant to dental professionals in the UK. Make no mistake, safeguarding training is essential for every member of the dental team, including admin staff, trainees, and temporary staff too.

Previously, the government’s widespread statutory guidance, Working Together to Safeguard Children, referenced safeguarding training levels for all sectors. You’re probably familiar with this document, as it’s still one of the most important pieces of safeguarding legislation used across the country today. However, when the guidance was updated in 2013, it removed all reference to safeguarding levels for every sector except Healthcare.
