Continuing professional development (CPD) is vital for dental professionals. It’s a way to keep your knowledge and skills up to date and helps contribute to better patient care as well as ensuring the profession maintains the very highest standards. But what is the best enhanced CPD for dental practitioners? There is no shortage of options and making the right choice can seem bewilderingly difficult.
In 2018, when the General Dental Council (GDC) announced that CPD was to be enhanced so dental practitioners got the most out of it, many training organisations and training courses struggled to comply.
Since August 2018 there has been a requirement for all dental professionals to have a personal development plan (PDP). As well as an increase in the number of verifiable hours for most professionals, the GDC also laid down a requirement to spread CPD hours more evenly across the five-year cycle.
