Are you up to standard?

7 mins read CPD requirements
‘You must protect patients and colleagues from risks posed by your health, conduct or performance’ – Glenys Bridges suggests the pressure is on for dental nurses...

In the GDC’s Standards for the Dental Team, it reads: ‘9.2.1 If you know, or suspect, that patients may be at risk because of your health, behaviour or professional performance, you must consult a suitably qualified colleague immediately and follow advice on how to put the interests of patients first.’

The pressure is on; there are huge expectations upon all of the dental team to meet numerous regulatory requirements. For some, the profession’s Standards drive a glorious cycle of continued improvement. For others, they bring added pressure and stress and this is having a negative impact upon their health, behaviour and quality of work.
