When we shared the news on our Facebook page of a man who attacked a dental nurse and racially abused a receptionist at a London dental practice – because he was unhappy with treatment – we asked you what was in place in your practices to protect you.

The feedback was mixed [see blue box at the end of the article]. For some, there was no definite practice policy, whilst for others there were strict rules governing the safety of staff. Some practices, for example, had rules in place that, whatever the circumstances, no member of staff should ever be left in a practice alone to deal with patients and other visitors.
