As dental nurses, we learn about the circulatory system when taking our initial qualification – and we may revisit it if we take a postgraduate qualification. But, how often do we brush up on our anatomy and physiology knowledge to help aid our understanding of the day-to-day provision of dentistry?
Function of the circulatory system
The circulatory system transports blood around the body by a network of blood vessels to all organs, tissues and cells to provide them with oxygen, fuel, nutrients, hormones and cells. This is essential for immunity, as it enables them to respire and function. The circulatory system also removes waste products such as carbon dioxide.
