BADN president Debra Worthington details the recent efforts of Labour MP Cat Smith on behalf of dental nurses.

Following our latest meeting, Labour MP Cat Smith (Fleetwood and Lancaster) – who spoke recently in the House of Commons about the difficulties faced by her constituents on accessing NHS dental care – has written to both the Chancellor of the Exchequer and the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care. She has rightly done this on the behalf of all dental nurses, in order to concerns to be heard.

In her letter to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Steve Barclay, Ms Smith addresses the issues of pay and lack of recognition by the NHS of dental nurses, leading to the current crisis in dental nurse recruitment and urgent need for retention.
