How an unfortunate turns of events also turned Kelly Henderson’s life upside down and her thoughts to those patients who may require a little more of our patience

Most of you will be familiar with the children’s fable, The hare and the tortoise. Recently, I became the newest member to this tale as the ‘dumpy dental nurse’. I make reference to my weight because, when you catch your ankle on the door frame and body slam the opposing wall, it hurts – quite a lot, as it turns out. This is a reflective piece rather than an educational article. I write it because this misfortune has highlighted some challenges the able-bodied person may never notice. If you are lucky enough to be able to run your surgeries like a well-oiled machines, some of the issues raised may provide food for thought.
