Hayley Pearson outlines what it entails to be an implant nurse practitioner.

Let me begin by giving you a little background about me! I started out as a trainee dental nurse in 2008. Fast forward 15 years and I am now a qualified and proud implant nurse practitioner. There is so much more to being a dental nurse than I could ever have imagined, so having the opportunity to discuss it here in the journal is one that I jumped at. There are so many more opportunities out there for us than we realise, and often I find with colleagues that they are very ambitious to grow and improve in the role – but they are not sure quite how! I personally like to remind myself that I have a lot to be thankful for working at the award-winning The Implant Centre in Hove & Haywards Heath. Where I have been for the last 12 years and they have provided me with so much dental knowledge and training than I ever could have expected. My role here is really exciting and I would love to share what this role involves, in the hope that it inspires other dental nurses to push themselves that extra bit out of their comfort zones, and opens the doors to so many more opportunities within the role.
