A bit of a ‘pinch me’ moment

Mitch Greenley shares his thrill of qualifying as a dental nurse – and how he fell in love with dentistry

I work at the Elms Dental Practice based in Northampton. It is a general dental practice offering mainly NHS services, However, we do offer private and specialist treatments. It’s a nine-surgery practice (almost like a mini dental hospital) that is extremely busy, which is one of the many reasons I enjoy working at this practice. As the practice is so busy, this has enabled me to gain experience and progress much quicker.

Why dentistry?

I always knew I wanted to help make a difference and be in a profession where I could help others. Since joining the dental industry, my role has helped me do exactly that. When I was looking for a profession to join, I wanted something that was hands on and practical and dental nursing is definitely that which is one of the reasons dentistry appealed to me. When I started training, I realised very quickly this was the career for me as no two days are the same – and I fell in love with dentistry. It clicked with me instantly.
