The recruitment and retention crisis in dental nursing

The session, which will cover GDC development outcomes B and D, will take place in the Oral Health Theatre from 10:30-11:00.

Session Aims: The session will look at the current recruitment/retention crisis in dental nursing, looking back over the problems faced by dental nurses during the pandemic, the failure of employers to address these issues, the failure of the NHS to recognise the contribution of dental nurses; and will discuss possible solutions.

Learning Content: This session will have an overview of the problems faced by dental nurses during the pandemic and the resulting recruitment/retention crisis. It will investigate why registered dental nurses are leaving the profession and why training as a dental nurses is not a popular option for school leavers.
