A new report reveals a 'shocking' divide between the dental health of the rich and poor.

People from more deprived backgrounds in England twice as likely to be admitted to hospital in need of dental work as those who are better off.

That's according to the new report from the Nuffield Trust and Health Foundation, which has been applauded by the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry (BSPD) for its power and clarity.

The report, Root causes: quality and inequality in dental health, is published as part of the Nuffield Trust and the Health Foundation’s QualityWatch programme

It identifies a consistent gap between the dental health of the rich and poor, with parents of children eligible for free school meals finding it harder to access a dentist.
