New mobile unit unveiled by dental charity

1 min read Volunteering
Dentaid The Dental Charity is set to launch its 11th dental unit at Crawley Open House on June 18, 2025.

The mobile dental surgery, named Manny, has been supported by funds raised through the 2024 Straumann Charity Bike Ride. Almost 50 cyclists, including Dentaid’s CEO Andy Evans, cycled the length of Portugal in five days. The group raised more than £80k for Dentaid by riding the 746 kilometres in hot weather conditions.

Manny will be used to deliver dental clinics around the country for communities where people experiencing homelessness, poverty or abuse struggle to access dental care.

As a result of funds raised from the bike ride, the vehicle and surgery have been completely overhauled and rebuilt to provide a modern dental clinic on wheels. Teams onboard will offer a full range of emergency treatments and oral health programmes.
