Government urged to support the wellbeing of healthcare professionals

The new All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Healthcare Workers held its inaugural meeting in parliament on March 18, 2025, where it discussed the importance of wellbeing support for healthcare workers.

Organised by the Medical Defence Union (MDU), the sister company of the Dental Defence Union (DDU), the group was established to highlight key areas of concern for healthcare professionals and discuss potential solutions. This includes issues such as improving the health and wellbeing of staff and regulatory reform. The group will also aim to promote dialogue and discussion between the healthcare sector and parliamentarians.

The APPG is comprised of over 30 MPs and peers from across nine political parties. This includes the elected officers of the group which comprise of Cat Eccles, chair of the group and Labour MP for Stourbridge, Peter Prinsley, Labour MP for Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket, Robin Swann, Ulster Unionist Party MP for South Antrim, and Lord McColl of Dulwich CBE, Conservative peer.
