The fundraising study day has been planned to help boost the campaign to make it easier for dental hygienists and dental therapists to practise.
The British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy (BSDHT) and the British Association of Dental Therapists (BADT) have united to apply for prescribing exemptions in a bid to broaden dental hygienists’ and dental therapists’ scope of practice for the benefit of their patients.
This will mean that a list of prescription-only medicines will be specified in legislation and empower dental therapists and dental hygienists to administer or supply.
But they need funding to achieve this.
The upcoming study day, taking place in Hertfordshire on Friday 19 January, will consist of a series of presentations on topics ranging from the new ECPD to new technologies. The aim of the day is to enhance learning and raise funds to support the exemptions campaign.
