Northwestern Medicine has recently released a study suggesting that pregnant smokers reduce their smoking by an average of one cigarette a day before they are aware of the pregnancy.

Charity bike ride 500 miles

In September 2022, a team of 50 determined cyclists took part in the annual Straumann fundraising event and cycled across Northern Spain from Bilbao to Sitges, near Barcelona. The team had set the challenging target of raising £75,000 for this year’s nominated charity, Dentaid.

​A clear link between obesity and tooth loss has been confirmed in the largest study of its kind of over 200,000 adults which examined BMI, tooth retention, tooth location and age. The major new analysis of health insurance claims and health check-up data found that the higher the BMI, the greater the risk of tooth loss, especially in the over-40s.
