Dental classroom undergoes artistic makeover

A team of graffiti artists have been commissioned to transform a shipping container into an eye-catching feature outside Community Dental Services CIC (CDS) Dental Care Centre in Bedford.
As part of CDS’s ongoing investment in its people and spaces, the vibrantly designed container will serve as a functional extension of the new CDS Training Centre at the Bedford site. It will provide additional office space and a multi-purpose meeting and rest area for people hiring the training centre for teaching and those attending the programme of dental learning courses being developed.
The dental provider has taken a creative route, working with graffiti artists from Grafitti2Hire to create a design that is colourful and uplifting.
Adrian Thorp, clinical director for CDS, said, “We wanted to create something that was cheerful, would really arrest attention, surprise people, and bring a smile to their faces. Our new training centre will be somewhere that inspires learning and development in the whole dental team, and this is all part of our ethos of being creative and doing things differently.”
Employees and patients who have seen the design from the centre’s waiting area have expressed their appreciation for the artwork, saying, “It looks amazing!” and “So much nicer than a green box!”
The CDS Training Centre, set to be officially opened by England’s chief dental officer Jason Wong in June, is a state-of-the-art dental training facility based at the Dental Care Centre, Bedford Hospital Village. It is the largest and most advanced of its kind in the East of England, promoting dental learning and life-long skills development for the whole dental team.
