In July, Bupa Dental Care announced a partnership with Barry Oulton and the Confident Dentist Academy to help dental professionals with their communication skills. The Communications Clinic is designed to help Bupa Dental Care staff to build better rapport with patients and colleagues, leading to a happy working environment and meaningful, productive, long-lasting patient relationships.
Where did the idea for the Communications Clinic come from?
We do regular poll surveys with both our employed staff and self-employed clinicians to get their opinions on how they’re finding things. One of the things that came out of that was that any bespoke training on communications would be really valued. It does exist, but it is expensive, and it also involves you taking time away from work, which in a period in which we are trying to maximise patient access goes against what we are trying to do.
