I gained a significant interest in teeth during my time at secondary school in Lancashire, when I was myself receiving orthodontic treatment, during which time I built up a great rapport with a lovely dentist and her wonderful nurse. At the same time, I was also a member of the Air Cadets, which I really enjoyed. I loved the military side of life and already knew that I wanted to pursue a career in the Armed Forces. So, I was thrilled to learn I could work in both fields – as a dental nurse in the forces. From that point, I felt my career path was set and, aged 17, I applied to join the Army. After several interviews and meetings with some wonderful members of the Corps, I was accepted.
