After passing all of my GCSEs at school I went to college to do A levels, as this is what everybody was pushed towards doing. After passing my AS levels, I decided to finish college without progressing onto the second year as I felt like studying multiple subjects seemed somewhat irrelevant as I didn’t know what I wanted to do with these qualifications. I learn a lot better when I can put things into practice, and therefore I decided to look online at apprenticeships and came across a job vacancy for a trainee dental nurse – it seemed perfect for me as it was still in the healthcare environment, which I’d always wanted to work in, and it also involved learning on the job. I took my CV in, had an interview, got the job and started an evening course studying for the diploma in dental nursing alongside working.
