Dental nurse Stephanie Gillies considers lifelong learning and development

Stephanie Gillies qualified as a dental nurse in Carlisle in 1990 and now has more than 30 years of experience. After a short career break to raise her family, she was a teaching assistant until 2010. She worked in various schools and gained some fantastic teaching techniques working with SEN children, which, she says, was very rewarding. Stephanie returned to dental nursing in 2010.

She says: ‘I have worked in NHS and private practices, gaining experience and knowledge in implant surgery. I qualified as an oral health educator in 2012 and, a year later, I obtained a role within the maxillofacial department in a hospital setting – firstly in orthodontics and then moving permanently into the maxillofacial department in 2015, assisting with oral surgery and orthodontics.
