A blossoming career

Francesca Robson discusses her journey in dentistry

Why did you choose a career in dentistry?

Dentistry came to me at a bit of a later stage. When I left school, I went into fitness and completed my gym instructor qualifications as this was the field I was interested in at the time. It was only when I attended a routine dental appointment when I was younger, and I had a chat with the dentist and nurse during the appointment and I talked about how interesting their jobs must be. I was told they were currently looking for a trainee nurse and this is where it all began!

I started my training with a lovely independent practice in Hexham, Northumberland in 2012 and completed my nursing qualification with the NECC in Newcastle Upon Tyne. Ever since then dentistry has become such a huge part of my life, it is not just my job but also my passion. I have been working in dentistry now for 10 years and I have been able to progress within my career which has opened so many doors.
