There are around 11,900 new head and neck cancer cases in the UK every year and the incidence of head and neck cancer has increased by 32% since the early 1990s.

According to NICE’s Guidance on Cancer Services: Improving Outcomes in Head and Neck Cancers, in most cases of head and neck cancers, ‘early stage at presentation permits a positive outlook, and outcomes are frequently good’.

In essence, dental professionals are at the frontline of this battle against the deadly disease – and, as cancer survivor Chris Curtis ascertains, practice teams can prove to be the life changers for many potential sufferers.
