What's inside the DH's oral health toolkit?

Currently, there is huge focus on preventive care rather than on interventions. Delivering Better Oral Health: An evidence-based toolkit for prevention (Department of Health (DH), 2009) has been produced with the aim of providing dental teams with a clear document stating correct and up-to-date advice which should be given to patients.

The toolkit has been designed for use by the whole dental team. Every dental nurse should have a copy and be familiar with the content in order to advise patients safely. In July 2007, the first edition of the toolkit was published and a copy was sent to every dental practice. The second edition of the toolkit was published in July 2009 with some amendments and updates, although the fundamental messages remain the same.
