With more and more practices running a remote triage service and social distancing in some form or another to last a little longer yet, it’s important you follow some simple rules to keep both you and your patients safe.
Triaging remotely is a new experience for most dental practitioners. However, as we become more familiar with the technology and the platforms available, it is all too easy to fall into some bad habits. These could be perceived by patients to be unprofessional and may impact on patient welfare.
In all likelihood, a dentist will lead the triage but it’s best practice to have a second dental professional present on the call if the patient is a child or a vulnerable adult. As the likely second person, you may also be called on to set up the technology as well as observe, so let’s start with some simple dos and don’ts:
