I cannot stress enough the importance of having strong people skills. While clinical positions require specific qualifications, the ability to listen, to have compassion for your patients and team – and communicate effectively with them – are all-important.
As a highly self-motivated individual – who is always striving for career progression – I also know all too well that, if you want to progress, it’s important to be ambitious, hard-working and passionate. These qualities will set one candidate apart from the rest when rising up the ranks.
Time management and good organisation skills are essential qualities for dental professionals. Like any other job, the profession of the dental nurse can be challenging and demanding at times, but that’s what makes every day different and exciting.
