Charlotte Leggatt considers this multifaceted role in ever-changing times

As in all areas of primary care, the evolution of the dental practice manager has changed considerably over the last 15 years.

Whilst the roles and responsibilities may differ from practice to practice, an ageing population, financial constraints, new technological advancements coupled with modern treatments and growing demand, means that practices are now looking for fully skilled and educated managers to provide leadership in ever-changing times.

Effectively the CEO of a small organisation, the practice manager is responsible for the daily organisation of the practice – from disposal of waste to managing the budget. A practice manager, who has the skills and knowledge to lead the dental team, can be worth their weight in gold.
