Natasha Edwards discusses her fluoride application training

Having recently qualified and registered as a dental nurse, a fluoride application course felt like a natural next step in my journey as I am passionate about oral health.

Fluoride is an important part of improving oral health for both children and adults as it remineralises the tooth enamel, making it more resistant to tooth decay. Fluoride can help with certain conditions that may cause an increased risk of tooth decay, such as dry mouth. It can also be important to patients with recurring cavities or who have crowns or bridges and for people with periodontal diseases. These patients are more likely to have recession or pocketing and therefore the tooth root surface can be exposed. This could lead to an increased risk of dental caries.
