Stepping up

Dominic Allen discusses his move from dental nursing to become a dental therapist

How do you think dental nursing has prepared you for your next chapter?

It certainly helped with studying – I already understood the basics and that made going into more detail that little bit easier. It goes without saying there are many transferable skills you gain from experience as a dental nurse that are useful as a dental therapist – communication, patience and time management are just a few.

I’m also very aware of how important it is to have a good nurse by your side and understand that showing appreciation for the hard work dental nurses do goes a long way.
