Dentistry can be lonely, which is why our newest editorial board member, dental nurse Eloise Meldrum, suggests we should all seek out great networking opportunities

Why dentistry?

I fell into dentistry when I was 21. I applied for a receptionist job and was asked if I wanted to try dental nursing – and I thought, 'why not?' I’m so glad I did. I haven’t looked back.

Best and worst aspects?

BEST: Patient care, being able to carry out varied treatments and working with an amazing team.

WORST: I enjoy all aspects of what it entails.

Biggest challenge?

Finding myself being held accountable for my actions, care and skills after I qualified. I knew I was a good dental nurse and patient care was my passion. I asked for feedback from my dentist to see if I could improve and this provided the reassurance I needed.
