Online dental care

‘I’ve yet to meet someone who enjoys parking their rear end in a dental chair’ oral health coach Leigh Hunter on her 21st-century approach to dentistry

According to Leigh Hunter, good oral health care is all about personalising the process to make it relatable.

With the trend for PTs and weight loss groups cluttering our feeds on all social media platforms, she has applied much the same approach to dentistry. For her, it’s all about ‘coaching folk’.

She says: ‘Everything is accessible online, why shouldn’t oral health be there, too? I am here to help people help themselves by coaching them and giving them a wee nudge’ – albeit, virtually.

Her digital innovation, www.growingsmiles.co.uk, offers a complementary therapy to dental visits in the form of online lifestyle coaching. Leigh coaches individuals and groups based on their personal risk to oral health. The initiative provides training and support to dental and health care professionals, too, throughout the UK and Ireland – both directly and virtually.
Time Out For Teeth (TOFT) is her online coaching service and clients can book directly via the Growing Smiles website. Referrals are welcome as well. LiveChat is available on the website (as well as on its Facebook Page) to help people discuss their concerns so that they may obtain and maintain good oral health.
