Alis Fleming discusses her work with dental charity Dentaid

What is Dentaid?

Dentaid is a charity whose volunteers provide oral healthcare to the less fortunate in the UK and overseas. It was founded in 1996 by one member of staff working from his garage, since then it has grown into a worldwide charity. At first, the charity started by refurbishing old dental equipment and sending it overseas to dental clinics all around the world. As the charity grew, dental professionals began volunteering by starting oral health programmes, dental engineering training and joining trips overseas. The charity also offers UK training called ‘Bright Bites Education’ for key stage 2 pupils.

What is your role in the charity?
