My preferred way of learning is taking detailed notes on a subject and then making a mind map or turning them into flashcards. I like putting things in my own words as it means I actually read the information rather than just copying. After a revision session, I like to answer some questions related to the topic I am studying to discover my weaker areas so I can see what I still need to work on.
