We all work in a dental organisation of some sort, some big and some small, and it is a fact of life that when people work together, there will be conflict from time to time. This article explains how to manage conflict, improve communication skills and develop conflict resolution skills

You can't always see it or hear it, but you will almost definitely know it is there. Patients also have an unnerving ability to pick up signs of it within the dental team. If it is left too long without being dealt with it can have serious consequences, resulting in anything from people taking time off sick to leaving the practice, and even a claim for constructive dismissal. We're talking about conflict.

Conflict in a dental practice can take many forms and it is an almost inevitable fact of life that it will occur from time to time. It may be that two team members simply don't get on but may also make itself felt in heated exchanges between people or a practice meeting that degenerates into a ‘stand-off ‘between different members of staff.
