George and the Happy Tooth

Katie Dullaghan’s mission is to reduce hospital admissions and dental pain among children across the UK. Here, the oral health educator shares her dream

Katie Dullaghan is an oral health educator in Liverpool who has worked in oral health prevention and education for more than 13 years. Frustrated by the statistics regarding children's poor oral health, Katie decided to develop an innovative course that is igniting the enthusiasm among teachers and pupils alike.

George and the Happy Tooth is a book aimed at pre-school and primary school age children. She was already delivering oral health training in schools when she had the idea to create a book that her son, George, would enjoy reading with her. It offers a simple guide for teachers and parents to help promote preventative messages and improve oral health. It is now accompanied by a reward chart and stickers, as well as posters and activities for children in dental practices as well as at school.
