I am a 32 year old full time orthodontic dental nurse in Lytham St Annes, Lancashire, and I’ve been dental nursing for 14 years, which began when I signed up to do an apprenticeship in dental nursing, after acquiring my A levels at college. I am very passionate and ambitious about my dental nursing career. My workplace is very supportive and encourages us to expand our roles. This has helped me to gain qualifications in dental radiography, orthodontic dental nursing, impression taking and oral health education. Acquiring these extra skills has enabled me to undertake additional responsibilities in work. We have several dental nurse-led clinics, which I feel is the way forward in dentistry. It allows us to use our skills and frees up time for the dentist to catch up on paperwork or see other patients.
