The Dental Team Education Centre (DTEC) at King's College Dental Institute has been offering online training towards a registerable qualification for Dental Nurses since 2008 and were the first online course provider to be accredited by the National Examining Board for Dental Nurses (NEBDN). In the early stages students were working towards the NEBDN National Certificate for Dental Nurses and latterly towards the NEBDN National Diploma in Dental Nursing. This article intends to support the development of online training for employed status dental nurses by reviewing the successes and challenges of running an online course, and offer some insight into how challenges have been overcome.
