Fiona Grist, vice president of the Orthodontic National Group for Dental Nurses and Therapists, and a member of Dental Nursing’s editorial board, highlights two dental nurse winners at the BOS annual conference and the British Dental Assocation awards dinner respectively

It is always good to see someone getting recognition for their hard work and dedication. The person who goes the extra mile, puts in the effort and generally makes everything work better because they are there.

Two such members of the Orthodontic National Group for Dental Nurses and Therapists (ONG) have recently been in the spotlight and each presented with an award.

Every year the British Orthodontic Society (BOS) holds its annual conference in September, the latest one being held in Bournemouth. At the conference there are designated sessions for both nurses and therapists, plus presentation and folder competitions, which are organised by ONG. Apart from this, there is a full scientific programme, audit, research and University Teachers Group training abstracts, keynote addresses, poster displays, and much more. Additionally the BOS takes the opportunity to present a raft of honours and awards to those people that have made a considerable contribution to the BOS and to the profession.
