Changing for the better

2 mins read Opinions

I had the pleasure of hosting the National Examining Board for Dental Nurses (NEBDN) Annual Conference at St John's University in York on Saturday 17 October. During the conference, myself and colleagues were able to provide an update on developments within the NEBDN. I started the session with the following quote: ‘Change is the law of life and those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future’ (Kennedy, 1963).

Most of us are such creatures of habit and the mere mention of change has us rolling our eyes in despair. As dental nurses, we have had our fair share of changes; however, I feel it has had a positive impact on our profession. Without the change to registration, it is unlikely that we would have had been able to develop extended duties, thus creating different career pathways.
