A student’s perspective

Marisa Russell talks to Kelly Woodward about her experience of Molar Mentoring’s pregnancy and paediatric oral hygiene course

Why did you choose to enrol on the Molar Mentoring pregnancy and paediatric course?

I have worked in dentistry for 21 years. I am always looking for new and interesting courses and challenges to embark on, so when I saw the Molar Mentoring pregnancy and paediatric oral hygiene course, I knew instantly it was something I would be keen to do. I have three children myself, so I know first-hand that the advice given to expectant and new mums regarding their oral health and the oral health of their child is very limited, from both midwives and health visitor teams. The idea of being able to incorporate my love of all things baby-related with my passion for dentistry and oral health seemed like the ideal opportunity and challenge for me. The course offers me 30 hours of verifiable CPD and the skills I need to use this information in practice and also out in the wider community.
