Melanie Pomphrett reveals what it takes to inspire others – and why she thinks oral health education has a healthy future

Melanie Pomphrett is the NEBDN Oral Health Education head tutor with Dental Nurse Network, a website specifically designed for the education and training of dental nurses. She was a dental nurse before becoming a hygienist, is the oral health improvement manager for Essex and is completing a Master’s degree.

With a huge passion for her role, Melanie is hugely dedicated to training students to become oral health educators. Here, she reveals what drives her…

Melanie says…

Dentistry is something I fell into. I began as a trainee dental nurse, aged 18, and found the job really interesting. I wanted to learn more, do more and loved the opportunities open to me. I knew I wanted a career rather than ‘just a job’, as I come from a family with a very strong work ethic – and dentistry has not disappointed.
