Elaine Cavey, 62, was a dental nurse for almost 42 years. She retired from her position at Bank Buildings Dental Surgery in Sudbury in Suffolk in June, having worked there since 1976 – and alongside practice Dr Robert Bradbury, for 30 of those years. Together, they have, in some cases, treated five generations of the same family.
She says: ‘I always wanted to be a dental nurse as long as I can remember. As a child, I was taken to the dentist every six months from the age of two, along with my sisters. I loved the atmosphere, the smell of clove oil and how everyone who worked there were always smiling and they put me at ease.
