2018 was a huge success, with participants commenting on the warmth of the welcome, the diversity of speakers and workshops, and the learning benefits.

This year organisers want to build on that success, with a focus on

  • Supporting the application of mentoring across the whole dental team
  • Celebrating the work mentors do across the profession
  • Providing valuable CPD for those whose role includes mentoring and coaching

Keynote speakers

This year, they are experts within the profession – with a national dental viewpoint, a dental committee perspective, and for our ‘wider picture’ slot, they’ve invited a leader with a national and international perspective on the world of work and employee engagement:

Peter Cheese, Chief Executive, CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development).
CIPD is the UK's professional body for experts in people at work, its mission is to champion better work and working lives. Peter writes and speaks widely on the development of HR, the future of work, and the key issues of leadership, culture and organisation, people and skills.

Dr Janet Clarke MBE, Deputy Chief Dental Officer, England
Janet is Deputy Chief Dental Officer and Chair of Local Dental Network for NHS West Midlands at NHS England. Janet works in partnership with clinical leaders in regional and local area teams to improve outcomes for patients and support the role of dentists and dentistry across the health system.

Dr Leah Farrell, GDP and Chair-Elect 2020, LDC Conference
Leah sits on the GDPC Executive at the BDA, is the secretary of Northants LDC and Chair-elect for the LDC 2020 Conference. She is the GDPC rep for the county and an associate at an NHS practice in Northampton. Leah has experience in setting up local mentoring schemes.

Following the keynote speakers and our popular Q&A/discussion slot, we’ll be breaking into workshops with a focus on interactive, experiential learning. We’ll also be announcing a poster competition, to share and explore the real-life case studies of how mentoring can be practically applied within the profession.

The event takes place at BDA HQ in Wimpole Street, London on Saturday 23 November, 9.00am until 5.00pm. Click here to book now and benefit from the early-bird rates, and discounts for BDA members.
