Can extended duties dental nurses (EDDNs) as oral health educators (OHEs) be beneficial for the practice and morale?

According to the NEBDN (National Examining Board for dental nurses), 1,015 Dental Nurses have gained the post-registration qualification in Oral Health Education since 2014 (approximately 113 each year).

The qualification takes between six and 12 months to complete with coursework and an exam requiring serious commitment from the participants. The course is run by accredited centres nationwide and their charges vary (£400-£600) plus £205 to NEBDN covers learner registration, online Record of Confidence and the exam fee.
